Addictions

Addictions are found in almost every home, congregation, and denomination. For years, the church has turned its back on dealing with addictions, mostly due to a lack of training or education. Other reasons include: addictions are sinful and should be avoided at all cost, without trying to understand the reasons why a person can be addicted or finding ways to prevent someone from getting to that point. Others state that dealing with addictions is too time-consuming and will concentrate on other areas of ministry.

It is impossible for the church to exist without having some form of addictions affect their church members. A member may have a son or daughter who is hooked by addictions. Gamblers may try to seek assistance from the church. There may be a church member who is struggling through different stages of addictions and need assistance.
